Our apprenticeship graduates – insights into the professions
This year, our apprentices Chiara and Kai successfully completed their apprenticeships as office assistants EBA and print media processors. In this blog post we take a closer look at the two professions. We were also able to persuade the two for a brief interview.
Interview with the graduates
How did you come to this apprenticeship?
Chiara: Back then I looked online to see what was available and what might suit me. Then I saw that Gutenberg AG had an apprenticeship as an office assistant. That piqued my interest and I applied.
Kai: I am very interested in technology. It was clear to me from the start that I wanted to do something with machines. Through my parents, who work in a similar industry, I became aware of the training to become a print media processor - specializing in printing equipment.
What did you particularly like about the apprenticeship?
Chiara: I particularly like the balance between contact with the customer and still being in the office. On the one hand, you are in a safe and familiar environment, but on the other hand, you are at the forefront of customer contact, both over the phone and in person. This mix is what makes it for me.
Kai: I like the complexity of the job. Each job is different from the previous one, which results in a lot of different work on different machines. I also find the machinery very impressive.
And how did you like it here at Gutenberg?
Chiara: The employees are all very nice and it's just a great team.
Kai: Yes, I agree with Chiara. It feels like we are one big family. The mood is always relaxed and not too strict.
And what happens next for you after your apprenticeship?
Chiara: I'm still looking, but I'm thinking about going to art school. I'll be surprised by where the future takes me.
Kai: I'm going into the military first. I don't know yet what I'll do after that.
We warmly congratulate Chiara and Kai on their graduation and wish them good luck for their future careers!
Areas of responsibility for these two apprenticeships:
Office assistant EBA
As a prospective office assistant, the task of doing general office work on the computer is one of the most complex tasks. This includes writing emails, tables and lists, working with forms, maintaining printers, ordering office supplies and making appointments. The job involves a lot of customer contact, among other things. As an office assistant, you talk to customers but also directly to suppliers. You welcome and accompany guests, present the company's products and services, note the customers' wishes and pass them on to the responsible person.
The apprenticeship lasts 2 years.
Print Media Processor BA
In this profession, you work in the Finishing Department of a printing company. Generally speaking, the task is to bring prints into its final form. In the Finishing Department, the apprentice specializes in setting up and monitoring machines that process individual sheets into finished brochures or magazines.
The apprenticeship lasts 3 years.
